Statement

Date: May 28, 2021
Location: New Haven, CT
Issues: Infrastructure

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released a statement on the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and corresponding Record of Decision (ROD) on the Hudson Tunnel Project:

"After the previous administration stalled this critical project causing travel delays and safety risks for the people of Connecticut, I am thrilled the Biden Administration has taken this key step toward advancing the Hudson Tunnel Project, a major element of the Gateway Program.

"The North River Tunnel is essential to connecting Connecticut to the Northeast, and delays in the rehabilitation of this critical infrastructure following Superstorm Sandy have brought the tunnel to the brink of catastrophe.

"As Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, I am dedicated to ensuring the Hudson Tunnel Project receives adequate resources now that this hurdle has been cleared. I look forward to continuing my work with the Biden Administration to ensure the Northeast region remains accessible to the people of Connecticut who rely on this infrastructure."
